Siteul SYSINTERNALS a fost creat in 1996 de catre Mark Russinovich şi Bryce Cogswell pentru a gazdui suita de utilităţi windows creata de ei. Dupa aproape 10 ani de existenta si milioane de download-uri, Microsoft a achizitionat SYSINTERNALS in iulie 2006.

Site-ul de azi este o colectie de desene animate de de maxim 30 de secunde in care toti “actorii” sunt iepurasi. Fiecare filmulet parodiaza actiunea dintr-ul film. Site-ul a castigat si un Webby in 2008. E destul de amuzant, va recomand parodiile la Brokeback Mountain sau Borat.

Graffiti Archaeology este un proiect dedicat studiului desenelor graffiti ce acopera peretii mai multor orase din USA si modul cum evolueaza aceste “picturi” în timp. Nucleul proiectului este un colaj de fotografii realizate la aceeaşi locaţie de diferiti fotografi pe o perioada de mai mulţi ani. Fotografiile au fost facute în San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles şi în alte oraşe, din 1990 până în prezent.
Folosind grafarc explorer, puteti vizita unele zone clasice de graffiti , puteti vedea cum aratau în trecut, şi explora modul în care acestea s-au schimbat pe parcursul anilor.

Quarkbase oferă o vedere de ansamblu detaliată si bine organizata a unui site web, ce include un rezumat al descrierii site-ului, popularitatea, informatii despre proprietar, trafic, şi chiar blog post-uri recente şi tweet-uri despre site. Pe scurt, este un fel de Whois.net care-a luat steroizi. Acurateţea şi bogăţia informaţiilor variază în funcţie de popularitate site-ului, dar dacă vreţi să ştiţi mai multe despre un site, acesta este un loc minunat pentru a începe căutarea.

Google Chrome - Easter Egg

Chiar daca s-au grabit sa-l lanseze din cauza ca scapase stirea pe internet, programatorii browserului Chrome au avut timp sa insereze un easter egg in aplicatie.

Daca scrieti in bara de adrese about:internets veti fi intampinati de "batranul" screen saver Pipes, o chestie destul de amuzanta, chiar nu mai vazusem de mult timp celebra tubulatura.

WikiTaxi - WikiPedia la purtator

WikiTaxi este o aplicatie ce face posibila accesarea enciclopediei Wikipedia in modalitate offline, fara a fi nevoie de acces la internet. Funcţionează prin descărcarea unui backup al site-ului in limba aleasa, de pe serverele Wikipedia . Programul este compatibil nu numai cu Wikipedia , ci şi cu alte site-uri, cum ar fi WikiBooks sau WikiNews.

Software-ul oferă o modalitate foarte bună de a accesa Wikipedia offline de pe harddisk sau un stick USB. Chiar şi articole Wikipedia English , care ocupa cel mai mult spatiu, incap in mai putin de 8 GB de spaţiu si drept urmare pot fi stocate cu usurinta oriunde. Singurul dezavantaj este ca nu sunt descarcate  si imaginile pentru ca ar creşte foarte mult marimea arhivei offline.

Google lanseaza Chrome

Noul browser-ul Web al celor de la Google a fost lansat astazi si este destinat momentan numai utilizatorilor sistemului de operare Windows. Google Chrome a fost programat sa gestioneze mai rapid aplicatiile online complexe, printre care cele bogate în continut video si include, de asemenea, un nou motor pentru încarcarea codului JavaScript.
Google dezvolta versiuni si pentru utilizatorii de Mac OS X si Linux. Lansarea Google Chrome vine dupa ce concurentul Microsoft a lansat browser-ul Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer detine aproximativ trei sferturi din piata de profil, iar principalii concurenti sunt Firefox, produs de Mozilla, si Safari, programat de dei de la Apple.
